It was nice to see the members of the Thorold Blackhawks team up to support the Walk for Alzheimers held at Brock University on January 21. The community event raised more than $70,000 for Early Stage programs provided by the Alzheimer Society of Niagara Region. All monies raised remain in the Niagara Region to support local programs and services provided by the Alzheimer Society of Niagara Region that improves the quality of life for people living with dementia and their families, and support other activities like education and public awareness. More than 300 walkers participated in the fully accessible walk route for the Walk for Alzheimers .

Winning team raising the most pledges for the Walk for Alzheimers was Team Bob White Niagara consisting of members of Unifor ($11,400)
Winning individual raising the most pledges was Justin Gniposky ($2,250)
A health fair with community partners offered information promoting an holistic approach to wellness and maintaining a healthy mind, body, and spirit.
For entertainment, the event featured live music by Cory Cruise, Fluffy the Clown, and Star Wars characters mingled in the crowd.
