- The Ink Spots were an American pop vocal group who gained international fame in the 1930s and 1940s. Their unique musical style presaged the rhythm and blues and rock and roll musical genres, and the subgenre doo-wop. The Ink Spots were widely accepted in both the white and black communities, largely due to the ballad style introduced to the group by lead singer Bill Kenny.
- An American doo-wop and R&B/soul vocal group, The Drifters were originally formed as a backing group for Clyde McPhatter, formerly the lead tenor of Billy Ward and his Dominoes in 1953.
- An American vocal group formed in 1952, The Platters were one of the most successful vocal groups of the early rock and roll era. Their distinctive sound was a bridge between the pre-rock Tin Pan Alley tradition and the burgeoning new genre.
The 18th Annual Canal Bank Shuffle Blues Festival runs Oct. Thursday October 17 – Sunday October 20, 2019.
The Canal Bank Shuffle is an annual blues festival that runs for 4 days in October, the week after Canadian Thanksgiving. – this year October 17-20.
The annual event brings the finest in blues artists from around the world to Thorold Ontario Canada. In addition to this festival we present a variety of blues shows during the year to raise funds for the festival presentation. In doing so we have endeavoured to make Thorold a Blues Destination for lovers of the genre
