Terry Fox Run Thorold

Terry Fox Run Thorold – In Person Event

They are back in action!

The annual Terry Fox Run in Thorold will return this year as an in-person event on Sunday, September 19.  Across Canada, a virtual presentation will also be available for people to support the campaign.

The Thorold in-person event will be based at the Thorold Community Credit Union, 63 Front St. S, for registration starting at 9 am on Sunday, September 19.  The Run will step into action at 10 am. Teams are being formed to participate in the Thorold event being organized by Cindy Dickson.  For more details phone Cindy at 905-931-5147.

It’s great to see the local tradition regain the opportunity to hold an in-person event. This way in person, the community can see the people in action, our friends and neighbours, all teaming up to support cancer research. Safety protocols will be in place for the in-person event following public health guidelines.

We missed the in-person event for the Terry Fox Run in 2020 due to Pandemic. We can look back to 2019 as shown above at the Thorold in-person event. Back then, loyal Terry Fox Run crusader Michael Charron had turned the the leadership of the annual community event after many years of service to Cindy Dickson. She organized the 2019 Run at Thorold Secondary School. For the 2021, the in-person event will move to a new registration and starting line location at the TCCU.

Run – Walk – Ride

Participants don’t have to run, but they can walk or ride, all at their own pace.

Although there is a Thorold in-person team in the 2021 Run, this year, no matter where you are in Canada, you can help raise money for cancer research. Please register online and start fundraising today.

There is no Entry Fee however, the charity group asks supporters to register online and collect pledges. While that is the preferred method, you can download a pledge sheet and collect cheques and cash considering the social distancing safety for yourself and people you encounter. The pledge sheet has tips on how best to proceed.

This year the Run goes on rain or shine.  As a non-competitive event, the Terry Fox Run has always been a community-based fundraiser. Please do your virtual run in a safe and healthy manner to a distance you feel comfortable with.
