Planting Idea For Community Garden

Carrie Cottage Bailey is planting an idea for a green initiative in our downtown community. The founder of the Downtown Thorold Market on Ormond Street, Carrie is now planning to rent space to local gardeners.

“We have s a large area of prepped garden space with terrific sun exposure that has been excellent growing space in the past few years,” says Carrie.

She is now looking for 10 to 15 people interested in a local garden space for growing their own organic vegetables in the summer months (June, July and Aug).

Organic and heirloom varieties are favoured for the garden, she adds.
Carrie feels this is an excellent opportunity for people who do not have access to prime gardening space.
The area is on private property and fenced in and access to water is supplied. The garden section is available for a gardener to tend and care an 8 by 6-feet of “ready to plant” tilled space.
The proposed rate is $150 for the 3 month season. Call 905-984-4100 or email downtownthoroldmarket@gmail.com
