Congratulations to Shannon Passero on the Honourable Mention for a renovation on a heritage building announced recently in the 2016 Niagara Community Design Awards. The impressive renovation of the Old Firehall on 12 Albert Street West in Thorold was managed by builder Michael Passero, Silvergate Homes.
Preserving its historic charm in downtown Thorold, the Old Fire Hall renovation focused on a landmark heritage building to reflect the renaissance in the revitalized area .
“The project restored legacy elements of the building and combined modern energy efficient utilities and structural features into the renovation. In the process of the renovations, the main space has been converted to a retail/commercial space and the second floor has been altered to be an office space, while the third floor has been converted into storage space. The revitalization of this vacant building has once again transformed it into well-used space in the fabric of downtown Thorold.” stated the Niagara Region
Lola Emberson, City of Thorold, submitted the nomination for the Shannon Passero building for consideration in the Awards program.
In its twelfth year of community service, the Niagara Community Design Awards recognize and celebrate excellence in design in the Niagara Region that demonstrate the application of Smart Growth Principles. We can appreciate why the excellent design of the renovated Firehall by Shannon Passero has been recognized for us to appreciate in Thorold.
