Carnival Showcases Local Stars on Ice | Thorold Figure Skating Club

Elvis was in the building, but John Bolibruck was rocking like the king with local stars in the Ice Carnival by the Thorold Figure Skating Club.
Yes, 3-time World Champion, Elvis Stojko was in the Thorold Arena as the guest skater for the Ice Show presented by the Thorold Figure Skating Club on February 24 and 25. The theme for the 67th annual ice show was “Our Favourite Things”.  Pictured above is the Adults Skaters team that performed in the show.

“The main highlight of the show for us is to see all the volunteer’s feeling satisfaction by witnessing the smiles on the children’s faces as they become a ‘star’ for the few minutes of their lives. This is where the kids can have fun. They let their hair down and just enjoy skating. We notice they just love it,” said John Bolibruck, TFSC Carnival Chair.
Sure, Elvis Stojko was amazing as the guest skater, but the annual carnival at the Thorold Arena also showcased the talents of kids and adults in a variety of scenes including Footloose, Batman, Niagara Evolution, among other performances. The masterfully produced show scored excellent results thanks to a loyal crew of volunteers and generous sponsors.
“We want to bring people in and fill the arena up and show them what skating is all about and it is good for the club and it’s good for the community. The fact that Thorold still has an ice show with lighting and costumes is credited to the many volunteers and sponsors. We could not continue to bring in top talent like Elvis Stojko without all the support of our Sponsor’s. The club members and volunteer’s look forward to the big event every Year. These ice shows would not continue without all the support of everyone,” said Bolibruck.
Gliding into its 68th year, the TFSC is performing as our favourite things to enjoy.
