Charron family Thorold Terry Fox Run

Thorold Terry Fox Run Shows Teamwork

Working together to out run cancer, families and friends teamed up to support the Thorold Terry Fox Run  on September 17. Participants were inspired by Mike Charron to pull together to help fund cancer research. Since it started 29 years ago, Charron has organized the Terry Fox Run every year in Thorold. Three generations of Charrons formed a family team as shown here with Sabine her grandfather, Mike and father Jonathan.
Thorold Pipe Band drummers and bagpipe players marched ahead of the crowd for a ceremonial start. Teams filled the street in tributes to loved ones who struggled in their fights with cancer. We found some inspiration by several teams formed in honour of a loved one, including McCleary’s Spirit and Team Terry Tumorator. Participants could walk, run or wheel in the community event. We were happy to see Mayor Ted Luciani cycling in style to support the cause.
Volunteers from Thorold Secondary School fired up the grill to barbecue hot dogs and served cold drinks for a post-run party in the Golden Eagles parking lot.
To date, Terry Fox Runs in Thorold have raised more than $360,000.
