necklaces hope _ Wellspring Niagara

Wellspring Niagara | Necklaces of Hope | Live Well Health Wellness Fair

Visitors found hope offered by Wellspring Niagara at the Live Well Health and Wellness Fair hosted by White Oaks Resort and Spa on April 21.  Sure, there was financial hope for Wellspring as the charity will receive a portion of the fair’s door proceeds to support its program and services for people living with cancer, caregivers and family members.  But we also found inspirational hope offered by Wellspring.

As a fundraiser at the Wellspring booth, a team of volunteers also sold Necklaces of Hope throughout the day.  Pictured here, from left, Caprice Aiello, Sue Bernier, and Chantelle show us their inspiring Necklaces of Hope.

Fighting ovarian cancer several years ago, Sue Bernier decided to crochet necklaces as a project to take her mind off the disease.

Originally she aimed to raise a few dollars for Wellspring Niagara; a support system for her and her family. Named “Necklaces of Hope” the items have been a big hit. Sue’s team of volunteer “hookers” have collected over $330,000 to date for Wellspring Niagara as well as an additional $30,000 for other cancer groups.

In addition to the beautiful Necklaces of Hope, Sue now offers Earrings of Hope, Bracelets of Hope, and more.  In December 2010, Sue started the Necklaces of Hope Foundation. Tax deductable funds donated to this Foundation will be held in perpetuity, generating annual earnings to support Wellspring Niagara.

At the health fair, vendors showcased an array of health and wellness specialties at booths featuring demos and samples. Numerous healthy foods vendors offered gluten-free, vegan, vitamins, and other natural options.  A series of information sessions featured five speakers. We connected with numerous vendors with interesting information and demonstrations:

  • Blossom Bakery
  • Calendar Wiz
  • Dr. Zoltan Rona
  • Fit to Eat
  • Inspire Health Niagara
  • Naturally Healthy
  • Nature’s Roots
  • Studio Six, Jill Saxton, certified Verju laser technician
  • The Health Shoppe
  • Wrap It Up Raw
  •  and many others.

Swag bags were handed out to the first 200 visitors.. And there were many giveaways and prizes that gave visitors a hope to win.
