The spirit of Christmas zoomed in a few days early for two winners in the Shannon Passero Women’s Business Grant Program. The grant recipients each received $12,500 in financial support at a presentation in Thorold on December 16. Two women entrepreneurs with Niagara companies were overwhelmed by the recognition at The Post Office, Shannon’s fashion boutique.
Jolene Antle received a $12,500 grant for Garden City Essentials, a St. Catharines company that grew from the desire to create the most effective natural skin care products. Jolene shares the belief that nature provides the best resources for the job.
By also earning a $12.500 grant, Jackie Troup was recognized for Jordan-based Blossom Bakery, a wholesale operation on a family farm providing gluten free and vegan foods. Specialties at Blossoms Bakery include gourmet flatbreads, cookies and handmade crackers.

The Shannon Passero Women’s Business Grant Program provides grants to women in a significant leadership role in Ontario based businesses that combine the principles of social consciousness, sustainability, and innovation to create new businesses or invigorate existing ones.
