When was the last time you enjoyed an outdoor movie night in a public park?
An audience of approximately 400-500 people came together on May 18 to enjoy a unique movie night at the Battle of Beaverdams Park in downtown Thorold. Families with children, young couples, and seniors set with the lawn chairs and blankets for the free outdoor presentation of Disney’s Moana.
The movie was viewed at dusk, but many people arrived as early as 7 pm to have pre-show fun in the park. Shriner’s Creek Kettle Popcorn sold their snacks. People quenched their thirst with soft drinks sold by the Thorold Canada 150 Committee.
Camper, the TCAG mascot, made a special appearance to connect with children and promote their Summer Camps registration.
As a local promotion to kick-off the long weekend, the movie night seemed to creat customer traffic in the downtown district as the crowd browsed through the area near Henderson’s Pharmacy and the Yoga Centre of Niagara.
Congratulations to City of Thorold Canada 150 Committee on presenting a fun family event. Some fans enjoyed the experience so much they are asking when the next movie night will be staged in the park.
