Food Giveaway - Jan 27 Thorold

Food Giveaway – Holy Rosary Hall – January 27

Amazing acts of kindness take place in Thorold and surprise us once in a while. Here is a surprising story about such kindness. It’s almost like a modern miracle in our community.
The nice surprise is that an anonymous donor is supporting a food giveaway for families in need.
People struggling to put food on the table will find some support in Thorold at a food giveaway on Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Holy Rosary Hall off Sullivan Avenue / Queen Street. The giveaway will run like a drive-thru or walk-in event starting at 1 pm in the hall parking lot.

Food is being donated by a local business person who wants to be anonymous on his generous act of charity. Over the past few years, this anonymous donor has supported several local food giveaways including a $40,000 contribution to the Niagara Nutrition Partners.

In an article on this story published in Thorold Today, City Councillor Carmen DeRose praised the donor as “a great guy who loves to give back to the community. He just wants to help people.”

Carmen DeRose – Food Giveaway volunteer coordinator

As a community booster Carmen was asked by the donor to help coordinate the food giveaway event. If you know Carmen, that request to help people in need was a slam dunk sure thing. Carmen along with his fellow Knights of Columbus members will be there to assist with the distribution of food at the event.
The food giveaway shows how the community can work together with kindnesss and hometown team spirit to help those people in need.

Carmen says these tough economic times have impacted people living in poverty and they need help right now.

As food prices have escalated recently, it’s comforting to see this revelation of generosity and collaboration in our community.
