Thorold, ON – When the middle class has more money in their pockets to save, invest, and grow the economy, we all benefit. New numbers show that the Government of Canada’s plan for the economy is working.
Today, Vance Badawey, Member of Parliament for Niagara Centre, visited Henderson’s Pharmacy in Thorold to celebrate the 80 years of contributions the Henderson family and their staff have made to the community.
Since 1939, the Henderson team has enthusiastically served residents, and has established a strong standing in the community for its many achievements in business and philanthropy. MP Badawey hailed the entire Henderson team as a shining example of a local small business continuing to thrive while improving the health and quality of life for Niagara residents.

“By working together with local community leaders such as the Hendersons, our government has been able to help kick-start the economy and create full-time, quality jobs in Niagara. I am proud of the important work of our small business community and look forward to continuing our collaboration to create more jobs and strengthen our middle class in Niagara for decades to come.”

MP Badawey also announced that, since November 2015, Canadians have created more than one million jobs, with April 2019 showing the highest growth on record. Even more impressive is that almost 800,000 of these new jobs are good paying full time jobs. In Ontario that is more than 486,000 more jobs.
In addition to the positive job numbers, recent data from Statistics Canada has shown Canadian incomes are at their highest point in history. The same report also noted that poverty was down more than 20% from 2015.
Today, Canada’s economy is one of the fastest growing in the G7. There is still more work to do and MP Badawey committed to work hard to attract the investments needed to grow the middle class and help those working hard to join it.
