One aspect that makes the Thorold Santa Claus Parade a relatively unique experience is the illumination that adorns the downtown as our community spirit comes alive during the evening event.
The theme of the parade held on November 24 was “Giving Back” and numerous floats collected items for local charities.
The colourful Living Water Community Church float inspired the audience to appreciate “Jesus is the reason for the season.”
Rain did not dampen the Christmas spirit that came alive with the sounds and sights of the season.
We also noticed many other community groups and local companies sharing the hometown spirit in the parade including the Thorold Community Activities Group, Thorold Protection Hose Co. # 1 Volunteer Firefighters, Denis Morris High School, Rolling Meadows Bible Chapel, Memorial Militaires Band, Thorold Auto Parts and Recycling, Big Red Markets, among many other floats and sponsors.
Comments from parade-goers applauded the the community event.
Amy McCullough joined the conversation on our Facebook page to say:
“was so happy to be able to attend the parade again this year. Great crowd despite the weather!”
Debbie Motchka commented:
“always love the parade we make it a family affair”
Tabitha McCartney says the parade was
“amazing and the kids loved it. We have gone 3 years in a row now. We also got invited to Toronto parade this year but didn’t like it at all! We love the Thorold parade way more! All the local people and personal touch is amazing!
