All the ingredients were packed perfectly at the Club Capri Sopressatta Night on Wednesday, May 18th.
Not only were the ingredients including an exquisite dinner, homemade sopressatta contest, draws and prizes all combined flawlessly into the annual event, but the recipe for success followed the proven methods for a successful fundraiser produced by the Club Capri members.
For example, to kick-off the dinner with positive vibes, a charity cheque presentation from Club Capri to the Niagara Peninsula Foundation for Children was a sweet start. The $2,500 donation was made possible from the Elimination Draw and Dinner hosted by Club Capri earlier this year.
For Sopressatta Night, the Club Capri Banquet Centre was sold-out. Patrons paid $45 for their event ticket and came for a party. They arrived with an appetite for a good time and a thirst for fun with friends. Many people brought antipasto platters including sopressatta and other homemade specialties to share with friends at their tables.
20 Entries Judged in Homemade Sopressatta Contest
There were 20 entries in the homemade sopressata contest. Thorold Mayor Terry Ugulini, John Damico, and Nick DiPompeo volunteered to act as judges to select the best sopressatta from the 20 entries. The judges evaluated each sopressatta for (1) colour, (2) smell, and (3) taste, scoring up to 10 points in each of the 3 categories. A perfect sopressatta could score 30 points in this contest.
Rex Vince Wins First Place Prize in Sopressatta Contest
Scoring 24 points, Rex Vince from Niagara Falls earned the recognition for the best homemade sopressatta and received the First Place Prize including a trophy and San Daniele Prosciutto. Mike Petrucci won the Second Place Prize including a trophy and a wine package. Taylor Urquhart won the trophy and wine as the winner of the Third Place Prize.
Throughout the party, a bunch of cool prizes was presented with draws that raised excitement and boosted fundraising results. Overall, the Sopressatta Night shows us how Club Capri gives back to the community by hosting fun events for all to enjoy, serving delicious dinners, and donating to charities, which some say is the icing on the cake.
