TCAG Executive Director Dan Pelletier announces retirement

Long before Dan Pelletier contemplated retirement, the feature image shown above for this article was snapped in March 2020 at a pre-pandemic photo op to promote a community initiative at the TCAG. Who could imagine it would come in handy for a fun shot to announce Dan’s retirement more than 2 years later?

Over the years I have benefitted from the leadership and positive charge he brings to the community. It has been a pleasure for me working with Dan. There are many more pictures of Dan in action, always stepping up to help make our community a better place to live, play, and do business. Please join me in wishing Dan a happy retirement, while we also contine to support the TCAG in the next stage of their development. Keep on smiling Dan!

MEDIA RELEASE – SUBMITTED BY TCAG

TCAG Board President Ken MacQuarrie has accepted Dan Pelletier’s retirement announcement with thanks and well wishes.

“’Working with the Board, staff and community, Dan’s leadership helped the TCAG enjoy revitalization and unprecedented growth of 130%+ in the five years leading up to the pandemic. This year we are back on track to return to the pre-pandemic level of activities.”

“It has been great to return to my home town after nineteen years away to be able to make a difference in the Thorold/Niagara community that I have always loved. I have thoroughly enjoyed my role here at the TCAG over the past almost eight years but I am no longer able to properly fulfill my responsibilities due to ongoing health issues resulting from a serious cycling accident eight years ago. I wish to thank the Board of Directors for the opportunity to help lead the revitalization of Thorold’s cherished community centre. This was the ideal appointment for me upon my return to Niagara following my twenty-seven year career with the YMCA in Niagara, Northumberland and Southwest Ontario. Thank you to all of the staff, volunteers and community partners who have contributed to the TCAG’s success.”

Ken and Dan agree that the TCAG is well-positioned for continued success and growth.

“The proposed agreement between the Thorold Senior’s Citizens Association, the City of Thorold and the TCAG to share operations at 8 Carleton Street North, including a proposed fitness centre on the vacant 2nd floor, would provide the Thorold community with a game-changing health/fitness amenity. We also foresee growth potential in all of our program areas including Licensed Child Care, Recreational Volleyball and Day Camping. We just need the additional program space.”

A search committee has been established to recruit a replacement for Dan within the next two months. Dan has agreed to support the transition to the new Executive Director.
