Thorold Celebrates Italian Heritage Month

For people in Ontario to connect with Italian Heritage Month in June, there is no better place to celebrate than Thorold. With Mayor Ted Luciani, numerous City Councillors of Italian ancestry, as well as many community leaders, business owners, and a very high percentage of Thorold residents rooted to an Italian heritage, we could say Thorold is Ontario’s “Little Italy.”
In 2010, Ontario legislature passed a Bill declaring June “Italian Heritage Month”. This provincial recognition is a precious opportunity to celebrate all the achievements by Canadians of Italian heritage. Look for local events in June when we will be impressed to see the young generation and seniors united to show their pride for all things Italian.
Whether you attend the Gnocchi Night at Club Capri, or Pasta Night at Club Roma, you will see people of all ages and ethnicity celebrating the Italian culture. Cheers to all the people in Canada who love Italian style foods and culture. It is gratifying to see many cities across the world celebrating Italian culture in June.
Look for a big event at Johnny Rocco’s Italian Grill when a Trip to Italy will be presented as a prize from their promotion in May. Plan to visit Sun Collision Centre on July 9 to celebrate Italian Car Day hosted by the DeMita family. You will be amazed by the parade of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, and other Italian beauties.  Pictured above, Thorold Mayor Ted Luciani, second from left, joined friends at Club Castropignano to celebrate the Italian culture at a community event in a previous year.
Let’s share our passion and pride for the Italian culture in Thorold, while celebrating with those of other ethnicities in our great nation of Canada.
