Thorold people love their history, so login to www.thoroldnews.com on Wednesdays, starting today, as The Thorold News brings back its popular weekly History Column, featuring spicy tidbits from back in the day, when Thorold city councillors admitted they were “tempted to use a 12-gauge shotgun on a pack of dogs” by the Welland Canal, and sugar was sold at 13 pounds for $1 on Front Street.

The Thorold and Beaverdams Historical Society was  established in May 29, 1894 and the community group is a member of the Ontario Historical Society since 1975. The Thorold and Beaverdams Historical Society is a totally volunteer-based group, dedicated to the preservation, exploration and promotion of the richly significant history enjoyed by Thorold and vicinity.  Read more …
