The Thorold Christmas Arts Crafts Show 2016 on November 19 and 20 was the place for shoppers looking for gifts with a creative personal touch. The community event was held at Thorold Secondary School for shoppers to meet artisans and learn about their creations. A wide range of artistic creations filled six rooms on the first floor of the high school.
The 23rd annual event featured 90 juried artisans from across Ontario and Quebec. We noticed vendors traveled from distant places such as Waterford, Linwood, Marmora, Puslinch, Georgetown, Sarnia, Windsor, Cambridge, and to name a few. All the way from Val-Des Monts,Quebec, Verreglas featured glass sculptures and bowls. Woven cotton and wool was displayed by Chistine’s Treasures, from LeSarre, Quebec. Many say it is one of the best events for Thorold Tourism attracting hundreds of visitors to our community.
Crafters from the Niagara Region also joined the show with vendors from Welland, Niagara on the Lake, St. Catharines, Ridgeway, Grimsby and other neighbouring communities. Thorold artisan, Lathey Turnings featured hand crafted acryllic / wood. At the Show, Cathy and John Henderson picked up 50 pairs of Kozy Kids pajamas designed by Mary Umbenhower. The handmade comfy pjs are styled with a happy theme to help the kids enjoy pleasant dreams and a good sleep. The clothing will be donated Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold
