As Niagara shows an appetite for local, fresh foods and handmade specialties, so grows the popularity of the new Downtown Thorold Market, slated for its grand opening on Saturday, June 9, 8 am to 12 noon. The general public is invited to participate in the community event that has scheduled an array of vendors for the season. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 10 am at the grand opening.
Located at 6 Ormond St. S. in Thorold, the Downtown Thorold Market features in-season locally grown farm produce, as well as amazing fresh artisan breads including gluten-free and keto options, handmade artisan pies, jams, honey and much more. The market will be an indoor and outdoor combination venue.
“We are so excited to be able to bring this venue to the Thorold community and people in the surrounding areas. As most of us know, Thorold’s downtown core has come a long way in a short time, thanks to local investors, new thinkers and local business people. It is so good to see new interest, growth and positive change,” said Carrie Cottage, operator of the Downtown Thorold Market.
The indoor-outdoor market will be open for the season on Saturdays from June 9, 8 am to 12 noon until the end of September. Click here to see the list of vendors to be featured at the market.
The Downtown Thorold Market promises to produce a positive cultural and economic impact for the local downtown core. The city’s downtown heritage area has experienced a recent revitalization, and the DTM promises to become a key piece in the vibrancy of the community. As more residents live in the downtown area, the DTB will naturally become a local option for their food and wholesome lifestyle supplies. The Market is expected to grow in popularity as more people choose to live, dine, work, play, and shop downtown.
“The Downtown Thorold Market is a definite draw to this area and will prosper with the community’s support as we all grow together,” said Carrie.
