Thorold Community Market to feature local wineries and breweries beginning August 2.

Marynissen Estates Winery and Niagara Oast House Brewers and will serve local products at new licensed patio this Wednesday.

In response to popular public demand, the City of Thorold is introducing a new licensed patio at the Thorold Community Market that will feature rotating Niagara wineries and breweries each week.

The new licensed patio has fittingly been named The Lock, inspired by the City’s recent designation of Lock 25 of the Second Welland Canal. The Lock will be located across from the bandshell on the east side of Battle of Beaverdams Park, and will offer comfortable seating with an excellent view of the live music on stage each week.

“Incorporating a licensed patio at the Thorold Community Market furthers the City of Thorold’s commitment to supporting and endorsing local businesses in our Community. We are fortunate to have so many incredible local wineries, breweries and growers in our beautiful Niagara region, and are thrilled to be able to showcase a selection of their remarkable offerings at our market each week.”

Thorold Mayor Terry Ugulini.

This Wednesday (August 2), The Lock patio will proudly present Marynissen Estates Winery and Niagara Oast House Brewers as the first winery and brewery to be showcased at the Thorold Community Market.

This week’s attendees can also look forward to a children’s magic show from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and a performance by the Thorold Reed Band from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Grand door prizes for this week include a hand crafted welcome sign by local business NamiCraft and a delux travelling cosmetic case from local business Shop Smart Totes with Lois. Attendees can visit the City’s booth to enter the door prize draw.

“I’d like to thank Council and staff for working collaboratively to make this new addition to the Thorold Community Market a reality. We are pleased to see the number of attendees grow alongside the market each week, and we look forward to the turnout as we launch The Lock patio this Wednesday!”

Manoj Dilwaria, chief administrative officer.
