Congratulations to John McGean and Shelly Maiuk of Thorold for winning the $2 million jackpot in the January 5, 2019 ONTARIO 49 draw.
“We play ONTARIO 49, LOTTO MAX and LOTTARIO together,” said John, 54, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up their winnings. “A couple years ago I won $100,000 with an INSTANT ticket!”
The couple validated their ticket in-store. “I thought I was seeing things when I saw the amount we won,” explained Shelly, a 56-year-old server.
“We were just in such shock!”
The parents of one and grandparents of two plan to pay off their mortgage, purchase new vehicles and help their son.
“We’ll also take some time to travel and renovate the house,” smiled John.
ONTARIO 49 is $1 per play and the draws take place every Wednesday and Saturday. Combination Play is available in five-, seven-, eight- and nine-number selections. Tickets are sold until 10:30 p.m. For more information, please visit the Lotteries section on OLG.ca.
